Young people are not called to live lives of survival or even lives of success, but to live lives of happiness and SIGNIFICANCE.

SIGNIFICANCE was established by its founder, the late Fr Dermott Donnelly, whose conviction was that young people are destined not merely for survival, nor even for conventional success, but for lives of true happiness and lasting significance.

‘‘Young people have so much to give to our society and our world and I want to give them every opportunity to develop their potential…”

At its core, the charity believes that when a young person discovers his or her own worth—when each comes to recognise an inherent and unshakeable “SIGNIFICANCE”—that discovery ignites the capacity to serve others, enrich communities, and inspire the wider world to become kinder, fairer, and more hopeful.

“…Through the projects SIGNIFICANCE will support, young people will be inspired to reach high and achieve their best.

  - Fr Dermott Donnelly

Guided by that mission, the Trustees have supported a series of initiatives designed to open pathways of opportunity for the next generation.

“I wish to thank the trustees of the SIGNIFICANCE fund immensely for the grant we were awarded earlier this year. It is no exaggeration to say that we have only been able to hold a camp because of Fr Dermott and this generous award.”

“Attending World Youth Day with the support of SIGNIFICANCE was a powerful experience and a chance to meet thousands of young Catholics passionate about sharing the joy of their faith”

“We wish to express our utmost thanks to SIGNIFICANCE and the support we received enabling us to experience World Youth Day.”
